A: There are plenty of well-qualified copywriters out there - but not everyone has the same writing talent and business background. So why hire Sharon Fullen? I'm more than just copywriting pro. As an author of small business books, I understand the needs of small businesses and entrepreneurs. I've also been a successful corporate Marketing Director. My marketing expertise gives my clients the edge over the competition. I don't just write the words - I understand how the literature is produced, how the Web is used, how the ad campaign is planned. How does hiring a copywriter work?
A: I'll speak with you about how you envision your project and create an outline detailing project activities and phases. After confirming the project outline, we'll settle up financially and set a start date. I'll start by quickly reviewing information you provide me about your company, products/services, your competition and target audience. Then we'll have a phone conference to gather more info and for me to "learn your voice." Next, I'll handle any research and start writing.
You'll receive a first draft to review and return with all your questions, comments and changes. Because I take the time to learn about your company, I'm usually on target so we'll concentrate on the first of two included revisions.
I'll complete the discussed changes and provide you with the second draft. If additional revisions are required, we'll discuss the changes in detail and I'll prepare a final version for you. After accepting the final version, you'll be invoiced for the balance and pay me within 10 business days. Additional revisions (3 or more) or project changes beyond 30 days after project completion will be billed at $75 per hour.
An hourly rate - isn't that an invitation for a huge bill?
A: When quoting a flat-fee for a new client, experienced freelancers must build in additional pricing for "unknowns" . The flat-fee quote could be higher than paying the hourly rate. After many years of consulting, I've concluded that hourly rates are the most equitable. Why should a well-prepared client pay extra because I have to over-quote for potential "flip-floppers?"
Please understand that I'm an experienced copywriter accustomed to writing quickly and efficiently. What might take a novice a day to craft, I can complete in just a few hours. My goal is to build long-term clients so you can be assured that you will always be billed accurately and fairly. The longer we work together the more efficient I can be in writing for your company and industry. To help with budgeting for a complex project, I can give you some time estimates and set benchmark invoicing. You'll find copywriting prices ranges for common projects here.
I like your credentials and writing style. But your rates are higher?
A: My fees are comparable to other advanced copywriters with years of professional writing, business and marketing experience. My rates are based upon the value you receive. I don't just throw together words - I learn your business then carefully craft the right message to best represent your company and sell your products. Your investment in my copywriting services means you won't be spending your valuable time tackling a copywriting project when you should be earning money! You'll receive highly targeted, effective copy written by an experienced marketing professional.
A: Yes, I guarantee that you'll receive excellent copy, a timely delivery and my experienced professional advice. I'll write in a tone and style suitable for your industry. Unfortunately, if you're asking for guaranteed results - that isn't possible. I know you've probably visited web sites that make grand claims. True professionals (even lawyers and doctors) can only guarantee that they will do their best.
My business is located in Florida and you're located in
Sparks, Nevada. Will that
be a problem?
A: Thanks to technology, I successfully work with clients from all around the U.S. Having worked from a distance for over 25 years with employers and clients - I will make certain everything is well documented so you never get lost in the process. Good communication takes a bit of extra work; but the reward is a partnership based on my interest in your success.
What about out-of-pocket expenses?
A: If I make any purchases on your behalf with your permission, I'll bill you for the actual costs. You'll receive a complete accounting with support paperwork.
What happens if I want to cancel a copywriting project before it is completed?
A: You may cancel a copywriting project for any reason after the project has begun. Your fee will be pro-rated and you will only be billed for the work that I have performed plus any applicable out-of-pocket expenses. Your cancellation notice must be made in writing and sent to my office address. It will be effective the day I receive it.
How soon can you start on my project?
A: My project availability fluctuates based on the time of year, my current freelance client roster, book deadlines and my need for sleep. Yawn! I try to never over schedule so I can respond to client emergencies and usually I can start a project within a week of receiving all relevant project background and paperwork.
Do your contracts include confidentiality agreements?
A: I take the privacy of my clients as seriously as I take my own. In the course of my work, I routinely handle a considerable amount of valuable proprietary information. Confidentiality from your copywriter is as important to the success of your business as is confidentiality from your attorney. Every Sales Words Plus agreement binds me from divulging not only materials released to me, but the nature and details of our relationship, without an explicitly signed written authorization from you. I will also sign any non-disclosure agreement you deem necessary during the early stages of project quoting.
A: You'll receive a written contract from Sales Words Plus outlining the writing and/or marketing services to be provided and your investment in these customized services. With new clients, I ask for a 50% deposit to be paid prior to starting our first project with the balance due within 10 days of completion.
How do I pay for your services?
A: I accept company checks made payable to 2 Market We Go (my corporate name) and PayPal payments. With the free PayPal service, you can securely use your Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover cards or checking account to pay my invoices.
New clients are asked to pay a 50% before any work begins. The balance would be paid within 10 days of the end of the project. Projects which run longer than three months will be billed incrementally.
What if I need to change direction or expand the scope of the project after you have given me a set-fee quote?
A: If the project changes significantly in direction or scale, a new freelance copywriting proposal and a time estimate will be provided. Additional work will be at an hourly rate based upon the changes required.
Can I hire you to do some extensive research for our company?
A: Yes, I do provide research services for companies at a rate of $35 per hour. As a freelance writer, I have years of research experience and an extensive database of resources. Clients have used me to research everything from new product development to "mystery shopping" competitors. A comprehensive written report can be prepared and would be quoted separately based upon the data gathered and complexity.
